Long time no see..

Screw WBUT and the Election Commission of India.

Being a state university board, and knowing that there is an election to be held this year, any sane person would first communicate with the state Government and finalise the exam dates. This was almost a 'disaster' waiting to happen. And it is what exactly happened. Yes, our semester exams got delayed for a month. So out goes all the plans we made for post-sem. Even worse we were informed of this scenario just a couple of days before the exam was due to start.

So now what do we do? The good side of our brain tells us that this may just be a blessing in disguise. Given the extra month
i could study and lead our steadily dropping GPA upward! But the 'dark' side (the side we most of the times listen to) informs me that i have taken a lot of "chap" over the past few days and now its time to let it out. There's still lots of time left to study. And so i go out and have fun. To hell with studying..Bring on the movies, parties and the theme parks.

The instant i was informed of the utter misfortune of having the exams postponed, I felt devastated because that meant our trip to North Bengal got cancelled. It would have been my first time going on such a holiday with my friends (the Diganta trip doesn't count). Kaushik and his friends had planned this and had invited me to go along with them. It would have been a week to remember. A full week on our own in the hills near Darjeeling. Oh just to think about it! While planning our main thoughts were towards the fact that we would be reaching NJP on a Thursday (read on..cause explained later) not the unrest in the Hills or the arrival of monsoon. We were worried whether we would find any open liquor store there, Thursday being a dry day (for idiots- no booze day).

Tagging

Expression

Their footsteps echoed unnaturally loud to their own ear. But that wasn't the only noise that set their hearts racing. The mewl of a disturbed kitten, the subdued screech of tires as someone took advantage of the lack of traffic, a pebble displaced by a careless foot...each one of the natural noises made them jump. But the real reasontheir hearts were racing was because the night had finally come. Planning. Investment. Lies. Creativity. All cumulated tonight.

Three shadows in the night, six cans with the colours of freedom, the city as a canvas ad the need to express.

As they flitted from one alley to another they wondered collectively the consequence of something like this going wrong...horribly wrong. But it was just a passing thought that one discarded as quickly as it had been formulated. Because the reason they were here in the first place dominated. The need to express burned in them. But were they expressive? Or were the vandals? Were they the voice of the oppressed? Or were they just petty criminals? It depended upon a point of view. But their role isn't what we want to debate.

As they closed in on the ir first target a multitude of thouhts crossed their minds...only to be replaced by a single word. TAG. A way of life. A form of art. An act of vandalism. An adrenaline rush.

Their first target was a traffic police control booth. More than an important art piece this hit was symbolic. It signified everything they believed against. Corruption. Abuse of power. Bureacracy. Inefficiency. So they marked it. Marked it as an act of defiance against the authorities. Marked it as a gauntlet thrown at oppresion's ugly head.

As each of them wielded those colours that they held in their hands as well as let flow through their veins, they let their hands be guided by the emotion they felt. Each of them had their own unique style....one left a skull, another left a rude hand gesture, while the third left a heart with an arrow through it...but more than anything each of the three of them left a little bit of their souls with the paint that dried even as they melted back into the shadows.

A tiny twinge of satisfaction passed through their minds...their first hit had been a successful one. As they moved along the shadows there was a new spring in their steps... A confidence brought on by the adrenaline that lowed through their veins. A cockiness which had its origins in the faint traces of colour that stained their hands.

A need to express.

Sherlock Holmes

finally went for "Sherlock Holmes" today...
Downey Jr was quite good as Holmes, eccentric as he should be, but Jude Law didnt suit me as Dr Watson...
Guy Ritchie must have been reading 'Angels and Demons' while making this movie because at one point in the film you will feel whether you are watching Sherlock Holmes or a Dan Brown novel-turned-film...
Nevertheless the film is quite enjoyable as a thriller...you will be able to enjoy it more if you forget that its a book written by Conan Doyle..otherwise you will feel a bit dissapointed...
already waiting for the sequel to this..Holmes vs Moriarty..a mouth watering clash.

There and Back Again

that last post cost me 40 bucks!!!!!thus making my balance close to something like Rs -43...how was i supposed to know that for 23rd jan vodafone hiked the GPRS charges while keeping the usual call rates and sms facilities???some brilliant mind in the vodafone top brass came up with this meaningless plan and ended up making me suffer by not being able to call or text anyone that evening :x ...but Captain Morgan kept me company though(for those of u who dont know who or what Captain Morgan is...it's a very good quality rum much better than our old "Old Monk")...

Anyway, continuing on the Sunderban saga, the next day (ie 24th Jan) we went to this Crocodile Sanctuary by boat..the boat ride on the river was AWESOME!!!The sanctuary housed crocodiles from the time when they hatched till they were about 4-5 year old...but still they kept around 8-9 fully grown crocodiles for breeding purposes (their average size being about 7-8 feet long)..we were told during the 'Aila' the water levels rose higher than that of the walls of the croc enclosures so some of the full grown ones escaped...so imagine this scenario.."u being one of the guards have to ride out the storm on the island,...the water levels have risen , and crocs can escape...imagine living then knowing full well a 8 foot long crocodile can jump you anytime anywhere"...i would be scared shitless...

...moving on...the lunch on the boat in the middle of the river was spectacular..the ambience made up for the quality of the food..
also...saw a crocodile outside the sanctuary..we were just able to spot it diving smoothly into the water...
all in all the day can be described as "L-E-G-E-N----wait for it----D-A-R-Y, LEGENDARY" (ya i copied it from Barney from 'how i met your mother'....so what...)

PS- will post the pictures later in some other post
PPS- in case you hvnt figured i love writing unimportant stuff in PS's... :P
